The Urban Information Center is
well-stocked with books
on urban sociology, city planning, landscape architecture, police science
and firefighting, grassroots organizing, municipal finance, public
administration and more. We have an extensive collection of documents published by the
City of Dallas.
The
Community Information Database contains contact information
and a brief description for 5,000+ local nonprofit associations, hobby groups, government agencies,
neighborhood associations and more.
Our
Grants Information Service is a key resource for uncovering funding
for your nonprofit organization. In addition to foundation
directories, there are books on proposal writing, nonprofit management and
more.
The
library has been a Patent Depository since 1977. Our collection is
backdated to the first patents issued in 1790 and includes complete
drawings and specifications for design, utility, reissue, plant patents,
as well as defensive publications. We have all the materials needed to
conduct a preliminary manual and online patent search.
The J. Erik Jonsson
Central Library has been a depository for documents printed by the U.S.
Government since 1902.
The
Maps & Atlas collection houses more than 50,000 topographic
maps, street atlases, folding maps and works on cartography, many of which can be
checked out. We also have an extensive collection of State geological
publications, soils surveys and USGS series maps.
As a Federal Depository Library we have 100 years of hearings,
reports, monographs, census data and much more, including the U.S. Serial
Set in hard copy.
Our State of
Texas Depository collection was established in 1930. During sessions
of the Texas legislature, we receive weekly shipments of bill files.
We
also house an extensive collection of historical, United Nations
publications, including records of the General Assembly, Security
Council, Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), UNESCO and more.

collection of RAND reports is comprehensive.
