Dallas Public Library presents “Got Grants?” part of a “Lets Meet the Funders” program series. Laura Smith, Director of Community Philanthropy for The Dallas Foundation will explain their decision- making process; offer application and site visit tips, sample proposal critique, outcome evaluation and a question and answer session. The Grantsmanship Center's 5-Day Proposal Writing Workshop

Designed for both the novice and experienced grantseeker, this intensive, 5-day workshop will take you step-by-step through all stages of planning programs, locating funding sources and developing a complete written proposal. Please note, the course fee for this workshop is payable to The Grantsmanship Center. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Grant Writing, by Waddy Thompson. (658.15224 T478C 2003
 This breezy, basic book clearly outlines in a step-by-step process all the bases that are critical to writing a compelling proposal. The book includes tips on how to spark the maximum interest of potential funders, profiles of grantors, suggestions to obtain testimonials and sample budget worksheets. An accompanying CD-ROM offers sample proposals, budget worksheets, thank you letters and Internet links.

The Everything Grant Writing Book, by Nancy Burke Smith and Judy Tremore. (658.15224 T791E 2003) A comprehensive "how-to" book, the authors explain the components of grants proposals and offer lessons on how to write project descriptions, action plans and timetables. You will learn how to design evaluation plans, develop budgets and find partner agencies to collaborate with. The book is filled with samples, charts and letters, as well as complete government and foundation grant proposals you can refer to.

Directory of Dallas County Foundations

We still have copies of The Directory of Dallas County Foundations (2000/2001 edition). Based on IRS Form 990-PF and information from the foundations, the Directory provides essential data on 472 private foundations located in Dallas County and the cities of Plano and McKinney.

The price of the Directory has been discounted to $25.00, plus $5.00 postage and handling. Add 8.25% sales tax if applicable. Payment must accompany order. Please allow 6-8 days for delivery. Make checks payable to Dallas Public Library.
