Instructions for creating a NetLibrary account

NetLibrary provides Dallas Public Library card holders access to more than 27,000 eBooks, viewable using the Adobe Reader, which is already installed on most computers.

In order to view these eBooks, you will need to create a user account, by following the steps outlined below.  To create a user account, you must enter NetLibrary via TexShare, as explained below. Afterwards, you may log in to NetLibrary directly from the link that appears on our webpage or simply by pointing your browser to www.netlibrary.com.

  1. Click on Texshare database link. (Note: This will open a new window. You may also access the TexShare link from our homepage under "electronic resources".)

  2. Type in your library card number (14 digit number under the barcode)

  3. Click on submit

  4. You will be shown a username and password for the TexShare databases

  5. Click on Enter TexShare

  6. On the new page that pops up, enter the username in the Login field and enter the password

  7. Click on submit

  8. Click on Complete List of Databases

  9. Select NetLibrary (27,000 eBooks) from the General Information menu

  10. You will see a small link, "Create a free account", in the upper right corner of the NetLibrary screen

  11. Fill in the information for a username and password (of your choosing, but the password must consist of at least eight letters and/or numbers) to use in NetLibrary

  12. You should now see the following message "Your account has been successfully created" above the BASIC SEARCH window

You only need to create an account once. After that, you simply log in using the "NetLibrary" link at the top of this page. The option to "check out" a title guarantees access to a particular title for 24 hours. This can be important because the eBooks may be viewed by only one patron at a time. Please remember to record your username and password for future use.
