All day events

  • Special display of photos of library staff’s pets—5th floor.
  • Special display of materials recently purchased with Dallas Public Library/Texas Kennel Club Pet Memorial Fund donations, and the Pet Memory Album will also be displayed—5th floor.

     Children's Center Events  

  • 11:30 – 12:30—Story Time with Sparky's Pals
  • 12:00 – 4:00—Educational coloring craft project sponsored by the North Texas Rabbit Sanctuary.

1st Floor Activities & Events

  • 9:45–10:30—This Little Piggy: Potbellied Pigs as Pets. Pam Stanley, a rescuer of potbellied pigs will discuss Pigs as Pets.

  • 10:30–11:30—Will the Fox in My Yard Eat My Cat Fluffy. Lenny McClarren presents a fascinating program that focuses on the wild animals in our neighborhoods and the reasons why they are there.

  • 1:00–2:00—Your Wallet and Pet Overpopulation. Sparky’s Pals will provide a presentation that focuses on the cost - both financial and societal - of unwanted pets in our community.

  • 2:00–3:00—Bringing up Bunny. What’s a House Rabbit Really Like? The North Texas Rabbit Sanctuary will introduce you to the amazing world of house rabbits. The topics will include behaviors and needs of rabbits and how to decide if a house rabbit right for you.

  • 3:00–4:00—Chat with your Neighborhood Veterinarian.  Dr. Virginia Ellsworth is a veterinarian at East Dallas Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Ellsworth will present information on Dog Bite Prevention and Zoonotic disease. She will discuss easy ways to protect both your family and your pet!

  • 4:00–5:00—Author Book Discussion. Author Bill Cochran discusses his delightful new children’s book, The Forever Dog. This heartwarming story deals with complex emotions that children experience when they lose a beloved pet. The author will be available for book signings after the discussion.
