Located in far northwest Dallas on Midway Road just south of
the George Bush Turnpike, the Timberglen Branch is one of the
newest editions to the Dallas Public Library system. The building is over 18,000 square feet and
is located next to the Timberglen Recreation Center and features
many energy saving qualities.
The kinetic sculpture On The
Wind located in front of the building was designed by David B.
Hickman specifically for the library. Visually, the work has
imagery relative to the library in the form of two open books
merging with CD’s. The work also provides a shaded area for
quiet reflection or reading. The sculpture acknowledges the
green building concept by using wind power to provide the
circular movement as well as the presentation of key words to
reinforce the ideas of learning and conservation.
The library features regular story times for children and a
book club for teens and adults. Here are the schedules of
